Participation
15% (up to -10%)
This class is as much about sharing your opinion as it is about making images on the computer. You are expected to share your ideas, knowledge, and opinions during class discussions and critiques. Participation is an earned grade. You do not get points for participation by doing nothing. Participate in class discussions, involve yourself in course reviews, and engage in the creative process at all times - this will earn you a positive participation grade.

Important:
Participation can also be a negative grade.  If you are through with the assigned project you are expected to have that project reviewed by me, and then either begin a personal project, or work on images relevant to future assignments for this class.

Any work done in this class for another class will earn you a negative participation grade.  Any time spent playing games, emailing, text messaging, or aimlessly surfing the net, will earn you a negative participation grade.  Any behavior which disrupts the class or me will be considered in your participation grade.

Assessments
10% 
In class verbal and written assessments of students’ understanding of Terms, Concepts, Tools, and Techniques.

Attendance:
10% (or more up to -10%)
1 Unexcused Tardy = -5%
1 Unexcused Absence = -8%

It is your responsibility to check in with me to complete missing work or assignments.

Projects
65%
(30%)  Artistic Integrity
What is the meaning/purpose of the work?  Does it convey this meaning/purpose on its own?  Is the work creative and original?

(30%)  Technical Merit
 Does the use of digital applications create a coherent and complete project?  Are different techniques explored throughout the semester?

(5%)  File Saving
As you work and hand in your projects, pay attention to how the files should be named and saved.  This small detail can have a large impact on your grade!

GRADES (examples):

A = Extraordinary work, regular and punctual attendance, great participation

B = Very good work, regular and punctual attendance,  good participation

C = Average work, all assignments handed in, generally punctual attendance, inconsistent participation

NOTE:  This class is attendance dependent.  You will not pass this class without attending regularly.
